⊗ XO CONTINUITY
NEXT APPLICATIONS / RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

Keep the object.
Keep its context.

For an artwork or a physical game, continuity needs more than a link that works today.

We are developing the approach for connecting an object record to trustworthy documentation, recoverable files and a clear account of who may add or change what.

21XO ART / DISCOVERY

Respect the work
and its record.

An existing museum or gallery catalogue remains the authority for its own documentation. We are shaping an XO layer to connect selected maker stories, condition evidence, loans and keeper contributions to the appropriate catalogue record.

NFC can be an entry point. It does not independently establish attribution, legal ownership or current condition. Conservators need to approve any attachment, and precise locations should remain restricted.

PHYSICAL GAMES / DISCOVERY

A disc with a
readable history.

Our first proposed proof places a secure tag on the case or a companion card. A tap would open the edition and individual package record, then link to a publisher-approved file manifest and preservation plan.

The collector could see which edition and build belong to the package, what was included and which services remain available. A publisher could maintain release context, support information and authorised extras alongside the physical edition.

The tag does not store the game. It does not bypass DRM, confer platform compatibility or automatically transfer a digital licence. A replaceable disc needs its own binding and content checks.

The chain we would
like to test.

01

Physical package

A selected tag and packaging construction, with an explicit removal or replacement policy.

02

Instance record

A stable identifier and verified tag result, without exposing secret keys.

03

File manifest

Publisher-authorised title, build, file hashes, rights and dependencies.

04

Preservation

Maintained copies, periodic integrity checks, export and a tested recovery process.

Tag verification could support the connection. File preservation, publisher rights and a museum’s collection procedures require their own responsible parties.

Questions for a
specialist partner.

  1. Which tag and placement can be reliably read near an optical disc and its packaging?
  2. Can the supported service return a stable object reference and verification result to XO, while keeping authentication keys protected?
  3. How should we bind a package to a file manifest, and make tag or media replacement visible?
  4. Who maintains the archive, rights information and recovery copies if a supplier or website changes?

For the first meeting, these are optional follow-on questions after the Timekeeper route has a clear next step.
